College Choice Foundation is now accepting applications for our Scholars Program for 2019. Click here  for information regarding who should apply, how to apply, and to download the Scholar Application Form. The deadline for submitting an application is June 1, 2019. SCHOLAR SELECTION INFORMATION

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Students who meet the qualifications below should apply. Take a look and see if you could be the next College Choice Scholar! We take a holistic approach in reviewing applications and look forward to reading yours soon.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Rising juniors and seniors enrolled in a Birmingham or Homewood Public City School

  • U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents

  • Weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher

  • Rigorous high-school curriculum (i.e. Advanced Placement courses and Honor courses)

  • Annual family income of $65,000 or less. In addition to income, in determining eligibility, all sources of family income and assets are taken into account, including alimony, child support, insurance proceeds, equity in a home or a business, cash and savings, college savings accounts, investments, and the net value of additional properties owned. Students with divorced or separated parents must report the income and assets of both biological parents and stepparents (as applicable)

  • Extracurricular activities, community service, and/or work experience

  • Strong personal character, impressive work ethic, and leadership

  • Students must be open to attending a four-year college or university outside the state of Alabama.

    HOW TO APPLY

To apply to be in the College Choice Foundation 2019 Scholars Program, mail a fully-completed Scholar Application Form with the referenced enclosures by the deadline referenced in the Application to:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Current, certified high school transcript

  • List of courses selected for enrollment during the 2019-2020 school year

  • List of honors, awards, extracurricular activities, sports, community service, work experience (with dates), and hobbies, or a current résumé

  • Standardized test scores (e.g. SAT, ACT, PSAT and Subject Tests) and dates taken (as applicable)

  • A Letter of Recommendation and Recommendation Survey from from two current core-course teachers, who can attest to your qualifications

  • Guidance Counselor Form

  • Copy of student, custodial parent and spouse, and noncustodial parent and spouse (if applicable) 2018 and 2017 tax returns, including all schedules, and 2018 and 2017 W-2 forms

  • Additional information as may be requested

In May/early June, qualified applicants will be invited to attend an interview. A parent or guardian should accompany the applicant to this interview. Scholar selections will be announced in June.
